SYDNEY, Australia (10 November 2009)—Luxfer Gas Cylinders has received enquiries about the rupture of a scuba cylinder in New South Wales on 16 August 2009. Various accounts of the incident, including several safety alerts, have been published, some of which may have led readers to believe that Luxfer manufactured the cylinder involved in the incident. This is not the case.

Luxfer donates scuba tanks in support of underwater archaeology in Florida Keys. : December 19, 2006
RIVERSIDE, Calif. (Dec. 19, 2006)—Sometime between 1740 and 1780, a fierce storm engulfed a two-masted sailing ship in treacherous waters off the Florida Keys. The storm drove the ship into the shallows, where it struck a reef and rapidly sank. About 250 men went down with the vessel, including her crew and a number of British soldiers who were being transported.

(October 11, 2004)—Luxfer Gas Cylinders has announced that computer-aided Visual Plus 3™ eddy-current inspection equipment is suitable for use with Luxfer aluminum cylinders manufactured both from 6351 alloy and 6061 alloy. Visual Plus 3 is manufactured and marketed by Advanced Inspection Technology, Inc. (AIT).

Update to Luraville, FL incident: August 23, 2004
August 23, 2004 — Investigators continue to believe that the July 27, 2004 incident in Luraville, Florida was caused when an operator was about to fill oxygen into a scuba cylinder that was not designed for oxygen use, and most probably the valve and/or cylinder had not been purged of all organic matter. Ignition from the fall caused the organic matter in the cylinder to burn, which caused the resulting fire and explosion.

Cylinder incident in Luraville, Florida: August 09, 2004
August 9, 2004 — Regulatory authorities are investigating the death of a woman who was injured while attempting to fill a scuba cylinder with pure oxygen. The cylinder fell over, burned and exploded at Cave Excursions dive shop in Luraville, Florida, on July 27, 2004.
