NOTTINGHAM, England (Oct. 5, 2007)— Hundreds of members of the British Lung Foundation (BLF) and its Breathe Easy support groups attended a series of conferences in September and October that provided information and advice to people affected by lung disease from across the UK.
Luxfer Gas Cylinders was a sponsor for the conferences, which featured presentations by local NHS leaders and experts in respiratory medicine, together with workshops and news on research, medication, diet, exercise and pulmonary rehabilitation.
Established in 1985, the British Lung Foundation maintains strong links with the medical profession and utilises the talents of people from all walks of life in a concerted effort to conquer lung disease in the 21st century.
Conference organizer Amy Smock said: “Luxfer’s contribution to the events provided a much-needed resource both financially and in terms of hands-on help.”
Lung diseases — including asthma, COPD, tuberculosis and lung cancer—affect eight million people in the UK. The British Lung Foundation is the only UK charity working for everyone affected by lung disease, providing support and working in a variety of ways, including funding world-class research, to bring about improved treatment, care and support for the future. BLF provides information via its website, www.lunguk.org, and telephone helpline: 08458 50 50 20.
